OPENING
NIGHT
ZYDECO EXPLOSION
Buckwheat Zydeco plus
Nathan & the Zydeco
Chas Chas
Thursday, June 19 @ 7pm & 9:30pm
"Buckwheat leads one of the best party
bands in America; he can pump out zydeco two-beats or shift into
rolling 12-bar blues, steaming all the way." – The
New York Times
Nathan Williams is the leader of the Zydeco Cha
Chas. His stylings on the piano accordion have made him one of the
most-admired players in the zydeco scene. th Nathan & the Zydeco
Cha Chas, fame and fortune take a back seat to the music they play.
They want to bring zydeco and traditional Louisiana Cajun music to
the attention of mainstream music listeners. They believe that the
energy and up-tempo Louisiana music has been regionalized for far too
long and is due for international and worldwide acclaim. |

Donna the Buffalo
Thursday, July 10 @ 7:30pm Only
Rootsy folk-rock sextet Donna the Buffalo
formed in 1987 in Ithaca, NY. The group's three vocalists -- Tara
Nevins, who also plays fiddle, guitar, and accordion; guitarist Jeb
Puryear; and keyboardist Joe Thrift -- add another layer of diversity
to the group's eclectic and often socially conscious sound. Guitarist
Jim Miller, drummer Tom Gilbert, and bassist Jed Greenberg complete
the ensemble.

Adrian Belew
Friday, July 11 @ 8pm Only
Like all great guitarists, Belew has his own recognizable style/sound
(one that admittedly tends to be quirky and off-the-wall at times),
and is an incredibly versatile player, as he's always found a way to
make his signature style fit into a wide variety of musical genres:
hard rock, funk, new wave, experimental, Beatlesque pop, and more.
Belew has played with Frank Zappa, David Bowie, the Talking Heads and
King Crimson among many others.

The Prisoners of 2nd Ave. with
special guest, Willie Nile
Thursday, July 17 @ 8pm
Jimmy Vivino's brainchild started
as a "deeper cuts from
my favorite records dating 1967 through 1973" type of band.
Everything had to have a Who or Cream type of power trio sound.
After calling John Conte and Rich Pagano to complete the trio,
they soon realized their sound embodied the energy & spirit
of Bill Graham's Fillmore East & with Jimmy's knowledge of
the flow of an evening at the venue, they began to design a somewhat
psychedelic yet soaring, streamlined show.
Willie Nile made
his recording debut in 1980 with his acclaimed self-titled
LP on Arista Records, followed a year later by Golden
Down.
Caught in record-biz limbo for most of the 80s (signed to Geffen
Records) he didn’t
re-emerge until 1991, with
Places I Have Never Been on Columbia. With 1992's Hard
Times in America (a cult favorite throughout Europe),
Nile finally escaped the major-label hamster wheel.
Gathering resources over time, he managed to put
out his first self-released album, Beautiful Wreck of
the World, just before
the end of the century. Nile is a songwriters’ songwriter.
Lucinda Williams opined, “Willie
Nile is a great artist. If there was any justice in this world,
I’d
be opening up for him instead of him for me.”

Blues Guitar Heroes Night with
Coco Montoya &
Popa Chubby
Tues, August 12th @ 7pm
Coco Montoya
first met Paul Barerre and Little Feat at a blues festival and
according to Barerre, “Coco’s
playing was inspirational to me - great tone and attitude.” The
band invited Montoya to their annual Feat Festival in Jamaica
two years in a row. “Our fans took to him like butter on
bread”, recalls Barerre. “He fit in so well with
the band that I knew I had to produce him. I really wanted to
get that live feel from him on a recording, and that’s
just what we did.”
The ever-prolific Popa Chubby returns with
a new CD of hard-hitting rock ‘n’ roll, Deliveries
After Dark, a collection of balls-out Blues/Rock played
with reckless abandon, no apologies, visceral and heavy, with
a few surprises thrown in – such
as the theme from “The Godfather” rearranged as a
surf guitar instrumental, and the spacey and evocative “Woman
In My Bed Dub,” a reggae tune as thick with smoke as a
Kingston club.
Popa Chubby continues to rule the road with his high-octane ax
work and uncompromising, in your face attitude, resulting in
a supercharged mix that spits fire at every turn.
